#EN: Author of these photos - Vincent Bousserez from Paris - says he was first inspired four years ago when he visited a miniature model shop. Since then he has carried a pocket full of models and a camera wherever he goes, posing them for impromptu photo-shoots.

Art monument 2010

# EN Any ideas on what to do with an abandoned element of architecture which has long stopped being anything even close to a decoration in the urban landscape? Four street artists from four different countries, Honet, Sozyone, Craig KR Costello aka Krink and Flying Förtress had one and took part in Turmkunst project. On 1 April they just squeezed inside a window-cleaner lift and until 15 May, painted the infamous "Bierpinsel" tower in Berlin, built in the seventies. This way they created a 50-metre tall (and the biggest so far) Teddy Trooper. While they were working, 13 street artists exhibited their work inside the tower, making up one of the biggest street art events in Berlin.
And maybe you know a building somewhere in your area which could be made use of in a similar way?

Czterech streetartowców z czterech krajów, Honet, Sozyone, Craig KR Costello aka Krink i Flying Förtress wpadło na pomysł i zaangażowało się w projekt Turmkunst. 1 kwietnia wcisnęli się do windy dla zmywaczy okien i do 15 maja zajmowali się malowaniem niesławnej wieży „Bierpinsel” w Berlinie. W ten sposób powstała prawie 50-metrowa postać misia, jednego, i jak do tej pory największego, z Teddy Troopers. W środku wieży, wybudowanej w latach 70., 13 artystów wystawiało w tym czasie swoje prace, tworząc jeden z największych projektów streetartowych w Berlinie.
A może w waszej okolicy też jest jakiś budynek-straszydło, który można by podobnie wykorzystać?

Not so useful inventions.

#EN: For some people chindogu may be a piece of art, for others a ridiculous invention. But one thing is clear- they do draw attention. The term chindogu comes from Japanese 'chin'- weird and 'dogu'- a tool. In general, it refers to a Japanese art of creating brilliant (?) gadgets, which are theoretically meant to make life easier. But as you can see for yourselves, despite being outwardly handy, they are quite useless. My personal favourite is the 'please scratch me' t-shirt ;)

#PL: Chindogu to dla niektórych dzieła sztuki, dla innych idiotyczne wynalazki. Jedno jest pewne- nie sposób przejść obok nich obojętne. Określenie to powstało z połączenia dwóch japońskich słów: chin- dziwny i dogu- narzędzie. Generalnie określa się tak japońską sztukę tworzenia genialnych (?) gadżetów, teoretycznie ułatwiających życie. Ale sami przyznacie, że mimo swej pozornej przydatności są dość bezużyteczne... Mój osobisty faworyt to koszulka 'podrap mnie' ;)

Ecological design

#EN: Recently, ecology is such a popular thing. Every citizen and every big company starts to play with that popularity and wants to make more fans. Some also support this idea quite selflessly. And it looks good. In Poznań, for example, soon there will be new bicycle racks in the shape of... elephant. At the ZOO of course. At Warta, there will be dancing people, and at the Music Academy, double bass. Even I want to buy a bike now. Idea of those stands belong to assocation Noga Dzika.

#PL: Ekologia to ostatnio takie popularne zajęcie. Każdy obywatel i każda większa firma zaczyna bawić się tą popularnością licząc na zdobycie kolejnych rzeszy fanów. Niektórzy też wspierają tą ideę całkiem bezinteresownie. No i wyglądają nieźle. W Poznaniu, na przykład, niedługo pojawią się nowe stojaki na rowery w kształcie... słonia. Przy ZOO oczywiście. Przy korycie Warty będą to tańczący ludzie, a przy Akademii Muzycznej kontrabas. Aż się chce wsiąść na rower. Pomysł takich stojaków należy do stowarzyszenia Noga Dzika.

The wingsuit creates the surface area with fabric between the legs and under the arms. If you ever though about flying this is something for you. #EN: Not easy to be a celebrity. Keanu Reeves should know something about that. It all started when he simply sat down on a bench to have a sandwich. Of course, he got caught by a paparazzo. But this was just an innocent beginning of a whole story which started evolving in an unexpected direction and created a sensation on the web. Maybe Paper Vader?

#EN: Have you dreamed of Darth Vader costume? Or Ironman costume? Or any other hero, who had a helmet? But, it does not even to be a helmet. There is a program called Pepakura Designer, which gives you opportunity to design 3D shapes from paper page. Then just print it, shape it, glue it and voila! We have Vader of our own! Street faces vol.2

#EN A much more renowned artist than The Mentalgassi collective, already mentioned on this blog, who uses large format photos of faces in urban space, is an African-born French photographer known as JR. His works have already won recognition all over the world, and no wonder. JR calls himself what could be translated as photograffitist. He places his black&white works in unexpected places. In his latest big project, entitled "Women Are Heroes, he put up photos of women's faces in the streets of France, Kenya, Brasil, India and Cambodia. Following Banksy, JR prefers to remain anonymous, and his projects are probably the largest illegal photo exhibitions in the world.

#PL Dużo bardziej znanym od wspominanego już u nas Mentalgassi artystą, wykorzystującym wielkoformatowe zdjęcia twarzy w przestrzeni miejskiej, jest francuski fotograf kenijskiego pochodzenia znany pod pseudonimem JR. Jego prace zyskały już uznanie na całym świecie, i nie ma się czemu dziwić. JR sam określa się słowem, które można by przetłumaczyć jako „fotograficiarz”. Swoje czarno-białe fotografie umieszcza w niespodziewanych miejscach.
